The beauty community will never forget the drammagedon of 2019, when OG beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook denounced her former mentee and friend James Charles in her tell-all "Bye Sister" video. Between the vitamins and waiters and screenshots and countless vloggers with tea of their own (read: Jeffree Star, Nikita Dragun, Shane Dawson) it's hard to keep track of what *actually* went down in this famously messy feud.

Here's the breakdown of everything – all the drama, accusations, and apology videos – that has gone down so far in the STILL ongoing feud between James Charles and Tati Westbrook.

Tati Westbrook Posts "Bye Sister" video

Tati Westbrook officially cut ties with James Charles in a now-famous video titled "Bye Sister." The veteran beauty guru was very close with James since the beginning of his career, but decided to cut ties out over an ad James did on his Instagram Stories.

The drama started after James promoted SugarBearHair, a hair vitamin company. Tati got upset after hearing the news, because she owns her own hair vitamin brand, Halo Beauty. Tati posted her own Instagram Stories talking about how upset she is over her friend using another brand's products. James publicly apologized for the incident, but Tati wasn't ready to forgive him.

In a video on her YouTube channel, Tati discussed the incident and why she felt so hurt by James' actions. "He had nine days after Coachella to talk to me. He knows where I live, it's not far from him. He could've come face-to-face and chatted with me because he know that this would hurt me," she said.

"We've had plenty of in-person conversations that were at length about other influencers doing the same deal and him not liking SugarBearHair and dragging the other people. Being like, 'Tati, I'm on your side.'"

Tati also said that the only reason she made the video was because Gabriel Zamora called her out about it and she wanted to tell her side of the story.

"There's so much going on with James Charles right now that I do not support, that I do not agree with," she said. "Fame, power and a fat bank account will change almost anyone. If you don't have people that will tell you to your face that you are doing the wrong things, you will change."

Tati also accused James of what she called "disgusting" behavior, claiming that he tried to "manipulate someone's sexuality" by using his celebrity status to hit on straight men. She cited a specific incident at her 2019 birthday party.

"You were talking in detail about things you wanted to do to the waiter, and when I said, 'James, he's straight.' Your response was, 'Doesn't matter I'm a celebrity.'" Tati told viewers that she called all of her guests the next morning to apologize on James' behalf because it was so "uncomfortable."

Tati said that she planned to cut off James for good. "I don't think there's any getting through to you and I don't want to be friends with you. I don't want to be associated with you, and I need to say that very publicly so that chapter can be closed."

James Charles Posts an Apology Video

In response to Tati's explosive "Bye Sister" video, James posted an apology. He said sorry to Tati and her husband (also named James) for all the craziness that has happened recently.

"I met Tati and James almost 3 years ago now, when I was first coming up into the industry and when I had no friends and nobody to talk to or look up to," he said. "And Tati very quickly took on a parental role with me because she knew my parents were across the country."

"I hate knowing that I disappointed, not only them [the fans], but most importantly two people that have been role models to me. I wish I could say this is the last time that I'd make a mistake, but it won't be," James continued.

"I know that I'll disappoint people as I continue to learn and grow every single day. I have a lot more to go, but that's okay."

James also addressed Tati's accusations that he has intentionally tried to date straight men.

"I've been involved in a lot of very unique and strange situations that have left people confused or upset and I've learned the hard way about ways that I can interact with boys that I put trust in and ones that I should or shouldn't be talking to," James said.

"This is a conversation that I know a lot of people are uncomfortable with and it's something that I should've been far more careful with bringing into the public eye, especially with the last situation that just happened."

After this, Tati decided to halt her normal video production.

"There won't be a video tomorrow. My heart is still too heavy. I feel like I need to remind you that we can hold truth & inspire change without grabbing onto hate. Honor your blessings, don't abuse them. Celebrating pain will only bring it to your door. love you guys, see you soon," she wrote on Twitter.

Nikita Dragun Leaks the SugarBearHair Texts

Though Jeffree Star took Tati's side in the feud, even more beauty vloggers came forward to defend James. Gabriel Zamora outspokenly defended James (keepin' it 100, per usual) and Nikita Dragun posted receipts of her own.

On Twitter, Nikita shared the Coachella texts between she and James, which seemingly proved his story to be true: he was getting attacked by fans in the VIP section, so he reached out the brand to try to gain access to a safer environment. Nikita went to Coachella with SugarBearHair, so James asked her if she could connect him.

Fans accused her of faking the texts, so Mama Dragun hit back hard.

The drama channel Tea Spill contradicted Nikki and James' story. In alleged texts from James, he backed up his original story, explaining that SugarBearHair heard he was having problems from another influencer (which is true, as we saw from Nikita's texts) and offered him a wristband on the spot, in exchange for one Instagram story.

Both sides seem to be true: James texted a friend for help and SugarBearHair rushed to his aid.

The Waiter From Seattle Posts His Own Video

*The waiter from Tati's birthday dinner has entered the chat.* Sam, the waiter from Tati's birthday, shared in that he actually found the attention from James "very flattering" at the time. He posted a video on YouTube explaining what happened that night and while he has since deleted it, drama channel Tea Spill saved the evidence.

"Throughout the night James and his friend and everyone, they just kept looking at me, but especially James," Sam began. "Later on that night he started talking to the other employees asking me if I had a valentine because this was on Valentine's Day. And he kept asking the waiters if I was single and [telling them] that [the group] thought I was very attractive."

Sam said that he slid into James' DMs the next day and James invited him to his hotel room. At the time, Sam was curious about his sexuality so he went and they made out.

"After [we watched a] movie he asked to kiss me and I was very nervous because I had never done anything with a guy and I was bi curious, so I said yes," he explained. "We ended up making out for about an hour."

The two kept in contact over the following weeks and when Sam's birthday came around, James apparently wanted to fly him out to LA.

"That kind of freaked me out because at that point I was pretty sure I was straight," he said. So, Sam texted James to tell him that he was straight, not bi, and no longer interested. He even posted receipts from this conversation.

After receiving those texts, James went on Twitter to vent about the situation. "I officially give up," he wrote at the time. "I'm sitting sobbing in my hotel room at 8am when I have to be on set in an hour. This is no one's fault but my own because my dumb ass continues to go for the same type of insecure cute boys and it gets me hurt every. single. time. I f*cking hate myself."

Sam then said that James continued to insist that he wasn't straight.

Eventually, he ended the conversation, apparently telling James: "I'm legitimately not feeling anything. Please stop talking to me."

Sam has since apologized for the video, admitting that he "led him on," because friends had pressured him to "pretend to be bi-sexual" to gain followers from the drama.

In a now-deleted video Sam said: "As soon as Tati's video released where she talked about me as the waiter, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to use – to ride the wave of the hype and the clout," he said.

Sam then told viewers that he and his friends had conspired to keep his relationship with James going, in an attempt to get more dirt for Sam's video. "We villainized him for our own good and that is wrong. I want to publically and officially apologize to James Charles for the video."

Tati Westbrook Posts a Second Video

Almost a week after posting her first video, Tati uploaded another, discussing the massive impact her first video had.

"When I made that video, I thought I would be the one that would take the hit. I thought I was going against of millions and millions of subscribers and that might separate part of the internet, my 5 million [subscribers], would be affected and I would be the one losing subscribers for speaking up and I was going against someone with a lot more power," she said. "I knew this would cause a lot of controversy, but I didn't think it would get to this magnitude. I didn't think it was possible."

After thanking her fans, Tati urged them to stop attacking James.

"I want to share with you guys that I do really want the hate to stop. I want the picking sides and the abusive memes and the language and all of that. I really hope on both sides it can stop. That is not why I made the video. And I feel like I wanted to share with you guys why I did," the vlogger said.

"This was really a wake-up call and it was me trying to reach someone who I found completely unreachable and I had been trying to deliver the same message so many times because this wasn't just about one thing."

Tati continued, saying that there have been several situations that she's been wanting to bring up to James: "You need to step into being an adult and being held accountable. So I did what I did."

Later on in the video, Tati clarified that she doesn't hate James and doesn't want other people to hate him either.

"I don't think his career is over. I don't think he's cancelled. I think he needs some help and I think he needs better people around him and I know I will never be that person again," Tati explained. "When someone is called out on their crap, they can do a few different things. They can change and make a great comeback and really look at what they are doing that is not right and fix it, and that's all I hope for."

James Charles Posts a Second Video

James posted his own 40+ minute YouTube video, addressing everything that went down. In the video, titled "No More Lies," James went through what went down that infamous Coachella weekend, claiming that SugarBearHair did, in fact, come to his rescue, despite Tati's accusations that he had been planning the deal for weeks in advance.

James provided screenshots and other receipts, as he touched on the points Tati originally made, including his relationship with Sam the waiter, who Tati claimed James sexually harassed. James Charles Cancels His Tour

Once the drama died down, James shocked some of his followers when he announced that he was cancelling his Sisters tour. In an Instagram story, James said that the tour was nearly sold out, but he felt like it would be better to cancel it.

"I made the decision to pull the tour. This was 100 percent my decision. None of the venues pulled out, none of the brands that were going to be sponsoring it pulled out and keep in mind, it was almost completely sold out and still, less than one percent of people who bought tickets contacted about refunds. The Sisters Tour is not being canceled because I was canceled. Let's make that clear. I made the decision for a lot of different personal reasons," he said.

James told fans that he was still coping with the backlash from his feud with Tati and wasn't ready to come back to YouTube or host a tour.

"I'm not better, and I'm not back either, but I am trying to move on with my life," said James. "I'm still not doing well...I feel like I can't deliver the best version of James right now, and that sucks."

Tati Westbrook Recounts Her Accusations, Blaming Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson

It's been over a year since the Great Beauty Drama of 2019, but these vloggers are still going. Tati returned to YouTube with yet another explosive video, telling fans that she made her "Bye Sister" video "as a result of all of the poisonous lies that were fed to me by Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star."

Tati claimed that bringing down James Charles became an obsession for Jeffree and she believes he and Shane used her as a weapon against her friend.

"Back in 2019, Jeffree started talking a lot more crap about James Charles than usual. It seemed that doing so had become his biggest obsession. It started with him telling me right before filming our collab together for James Charles' channel that James Charles actually didn't want me there, that he had wanted NikkieTutorials instead, but [Jeffree] said he'd had my back," Tati told viewers.

"Things further escalated at my birthday. Every time James Charles' back was turned, Jeffree would tell me that James Charles was out of control. He even texted and called me the following morning to apologize for James Charles' behavior at my birthday dinner and how embarrassed he was for me," she continued.

This content is imported from youTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

"As the weeks went by, every time I saw or spoke with Jeffree, it seemed to me that James was all he wanted to talk about. He said that James Charles was a monster with many victims."

Jeffree eventually connected Tati with his best friend Shane. Tati told viewers that Shane came to her home and spent hours telling her "horrific" allegations about James. When the time came to film her "Bye Sister" video, she claims Shane offered to edit and title it for her.

"Over the course of the next few weeks [Shane] and Jeffree fed me so much new information that I felt sick. Almost every day there was more information and new allegations. Eventually, I started believing what they were saying, because they said they had evidence," Tati explained. "It wasn't enough for me to contact the authorities, it was enough to scare me."

By the time she filmed her video, Tati says she was "beyond gaslit" by the two YouTubers.

"James, I am so sorry that I allowed myself to be poisoned and weaponized against you. I'm sorry that I bought into any of their lies. Believing those lies and allowing myself to be gaslit into making that video is one of the biggest regrets of my life," she said tearfully.

Shane Dawson Accuses Tati Westbrook of Lying

Minutes after Tati posted her video, Shane and his fiancé Ryland Adams began making public statements. Ryland went on a Twitter spree, calling Tati a "two-faced liar," while Shane went on Instagram live to film his reaction to her video.

"Oh my god, you are so manipulative," Shane screamed over Tati's video. "You're fake crying – you are fake crying! You are fake crying, that is not real! Oh my god."

Tati's video came days after Shane himself put out a statement, claiming that he did not "plan drammagedon." In the same post, he condemned the internet's treatment of James, but praised Tati's takedown.

"Do I think [James Charles] was a young egocentric power hungry guru who needed to be served a slice of humble pie the size of the f*cking Empire State Building? YES," Shane wrote.
